A sunny day on a farm is an idyllic way to spend a day out in nature with the family. Rain or shine, Roves Farm has a whole range of great farm activities on for children to enjoy with their families. With animal meet-and-greets, tractor rides, and an outdoor adventure playground to explore, the whole family is sure to be entertained on a day out at this 166-hectare open farm.

Roves is a 400-acre working farm in Swindon where visitors can help out with animals and farm chores. Roves care for a variety of animals including alpacas, sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens and rabbits.

On a typical day out at Roves Farm, the family can feed the goats and sheep in the paddocks, have a go at animal racing, lend a hand at washing the tractor and walk the sheep. Roves Farm even have friendly rabbits and guinea pigs available for children to cuddle and pet. Kids can also help out brushing the ponies and collecting eggs from the hens, and if they really want to get stuck in to farm life, there's tractor washing and walking the sheep for them to have a go at. Rest assured, that rain or shine, there are more than enough activities on offer to keep the family entertained all day long. For those with a competitive streak, there's even animal racing!

After meeting and feeding the animals, why not take off on one of the Roves Farm walks? With over 400 acres of farmland to explore, you may well meet a few friendly animals along the buggy-friendly trails. For young adventurers there's the nature activity trail in the woods and the outdoors adventure play too. No need to worry about a wet forecast at Roves, as they pride themselves on their sheltered outdoor spaces, which are perfect for playing out in nature. Roves Farm have some super fun indoor activities too. Go-karting with a farm-life twist gives you pedal tractors! The kids will have a blast pedalling around the indoor track. There's so much on offer at Roves Farm, it's hard not to love it.

What to know before you go

  • Since re-opening, Roves Farm is implementing COVID-safety measures. You must book online in advance. While the indoor play area remains closed and a handful of activities off the menu due to COVID-19, the vast majority of activities remain open. Roves Farm has a great new outdoor activity area which allows the farm to run almost all of their usual activities in the great outdoors. The Pets Corner and Animal Barns will be open although animal handling and egg collecting are out for the time being. The café and farm shop will be accepting card payments only and offering a takeaway service.
  • The Woolly Sheep Cafe serves a wide range of delicious hot and cold food and drink. The shop, next door to the café, sells home-reared meat, eggs, preserves and much more.
  • There are toilets, including disabled and baby changing area, in the Activity Barn. There is also a separate toilet block open for the summer months. Extra hand-washing stations are located in the Pets' Corner, Animal Barn and in the Animal Paddocks.
  • For those with toddlers, be sure to check out 'toddler time' which runs every weekday at 10.30am and 1pm for half an hour. These sessions feature music, bubbles, games and stories and run throughout the year.
  • Roves is buggy friendly.
  • The farm is open daily from 2 January to 23 December. The Pet's Corner opens its doors at 10am and the Animal Barn opens at 10.30am. Activities wind down at 3.30pm so it's best to get there before that time in order to take full advantage of Roves Farm. The cafe and farm shop open at 9am and close at 5pm.

  • The farm's address is Roves Farm, Sevenhampton, Swindon SN6 7QG.
  • Roves is accessible only via Sevenhampton village.
  • Follow the brown signs from the B400 Highworth to Shrivenham Road and the Supermarine Roundabout on the A361 in the direction of Highworth (coming from Swindon).
  • There is plenty of free parking on site.
  • Roves Farm is a 20 minute drive from Swindon train station.
  • Please follow the latest government guidelines if travelling by public transport.
