Come and explore 100 acres of stunning countryside with your mini adventurers at Aldenham Country Park in Hertfordshire. Little explorers and nature lovers will revel in exploring the area and watching all the wildlife. Take a self-guided walk around Aldenham reservoir and the nature trail. Do some wildlife watching and see if you can spot the ducks, Canada geese, swans, dragonflies, rabbits and squirrels. Kids will love discovering all the many butterfly species that live here. Alternatively, enjoy a family bike ride in the park. We would recommend taking a picnic, but there is a small farm shop selling local produce from the Aldenham farms and a refreshment kiosk, where there’s a takeaway service.

Farm animals at Aldenham Country Park.

Get up close to the animals at the Aldenham Country Park Farm. The working farm has a wide variety of animals including sheep, goats, pigs, cows, birds, alpacas, turkeys and guinea pigs. You can purchase a bag of animal feed from the farm shop. You are also welcome to bring your own four-legged friend, but please remember to keep them on the lead at all times. There is also a petting area, aviary, indoor play barn with a soft play area and a bouncy castle.

Come and explore the 100 Aker Wood and find the home of Pooh bear and all his friends. Big and little fans of the loveable bear will love playing Pooh sticks at Pooh bridge. Pooh Bear himself also usually makes an appearance at 2pm on the farm and at the playground next to the farm entrance. Make sure you get a photo with him - he drops by every day!

Afterwards, head to the awesome adventure playground, which is packed with fun things to crawl through, swing and balance on and zip down. Plus, there is a great sandpit area and water pump. Bring your scooter if you have one. Kidadler Susanna recommends the park as a good place for children to scoot.

Have your kids always wanted to ride a pony? There is a pony zone, which is available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer holidays. And if you think you simply don’t have time to do everything in one day, camping or glamping is available.

Throughout the year the park hosts different events. During the winter you'll typically find Santa's Grotto, a Christmas fair and you can even book an office Christmas party. Around Halloween you can usually expect a whole host of spooktacular activities, from pumpkin carving to ghost stories and loads more. Each year's activities are subject to change, but you can guarantee an amazing family day out whatever the season!
