If you think you have done all the child-friendly museums in London then think again! The V&A is full of fun and interactive collections and beautiful spaces, inside and out and slap bang in 'museum mile' with the Science Museum and Natural History Museum right on the doorstep.
Kidadler Danielle says: "Highly recommend the V & A museum for a great day out with kids. They have cute back packs you can borrow for kids of all ages, to take around in certain galleries with things to do when you find certain objects, clues and games etc. There was also a craft activity (which I think changes every so often) which was making mobiles, and we booked in advance to go to the Winnie the Pooh exhibition which was great! Do book that in advance if you are thinking of going as I know today it showed as fully booked on the door."
Head straight for the Learning Centre and pick up the kid’s backpack or adventure trails then make your way around the permanent collections. The clothes through the ages has some wacky modern pieces by John Galliano as well as Victorian wedding dresses. Or if you head to the England 1500-1600 collection there are carved wood pieces you can touch and feel, a chain mail gauntlet to try on and you can even design your own coat of arms.
There’s lots of space for them to run around and the museum staff are very accommodating to young kids. The garden outside with the pond is great if you need to blow off some steam in the fresh air. Spend an hour or three here, time will fly by!
