Having a 360 car seat for your child is a real game changer.
Once your baby gets a bit heavier, lifting them out can be awkward and a strain on your back. But with a 360 degree car seat, you can turn them to face you before you lift them out, making life a whole lot easier.
It's also a lot handier for switching them from rear facing to forward facing. So, whether you've got a family holiday car journey in mind and think you may need an upgrade, or have a baby on the way and need your first car seat, we've checked out the top swivel car seats on the market.
Kidadl's Top Pick
While all our car seats for babies and children are highly recommended, if you're short on time we think this model from Maxi-Cosi is the best around thanks to its easy installation.
1. Maxi-Cosi AxissFix Group 1 i-Size Car Seat
Maxi-Cosi is renowned for making safe, comfortable car seats and the AxissFix is no exception. As well as having a smooth 360 rotation and secure straps, we particularly love how easy it is to install.
Furthermore, babies and toddlers look safe and snug with the soft materials used, so we give the thumbs up from both parent and child for this swivel car seat.
The Joie 360 baby seat for car is one of the most popular on the market. We particularly love how the head rest and harness can easily be adjusted as your child grows, from birth right up until they're about four years old (or 18kg).
It can even be used for the same length of time in a rear facing position, so you know your baby or toddler is the safest they can be. It's also simple to wipe clean for extra convenience.
The Britax Dualfix 2 is one of the sturdier car seats. It can be used by newborns but only with the insert, which is not included in the price.
It's also worth bearing in mind that it's quite heavy, so not the easiest if you need to take it out of your car regularly.
Nevertheless it's a great choice for toddlers with its sleek design and simplicity when it comes to strapping in and swivelling the seat. It can also be used in the rear facing position until your child is four years old.

Price: £225
Removable washable cover
Suitable from birth (with insert) to four years old
We think this Isofix car seat is an absolute bargain, considering it's the only car seat you'll ever need! It starts off as rear facing, before forward facing becomes an option from when the child weighs 13kg.
You can then use it as a high-backed booster seat as they grow older. As you might expect with Cosatto, there are a wide variety of colourful covers available, so you're bound to find a design that your child will like.
This car seat from Cybex is a good option if you've got the unfortunate problem of mess being created by your baby or toddler - the cover is easy to remove and can be thrown in the wash at 40C.
It also has clever belt holders to make putting your child in that little bit easier, whilst its multiple safety awards give you that extra peace of mind.
At first glance, this 360 degrees car seat looks similar to other models for a much higher price.
However, gb justifies the price tag with its safety features, which reduce impact on the neck in the event of a crash, and it has been tested to the highest i-Size safety standards.
We also love the option of their SensorSafe chest clip, which alerts you if the harness isn't correctly fastened, if your child isn't at a safe temperature and even if you both need to take a break.
However this does cost extra, making the model even more pricey.
We're amazed with the price of this rotating car seat, especially as you can use it until your child is about six or seven years old. It does claim to be suitable from birth, but we found that this wasn't really the case as the straps are too chunky for small babies.
However, if you have a toddler and are perhaps looking to upgrade to a 360-degree option without spending too much, this might be ideal.
As far as installing car baby seats go, this one is very easy to get in the car. It's in place in a few clicks, with a green light showing when the seat is safely installed.
The five-point harness securely straps your child into place, and they will be comfortable with the padded supports. We particularly love how this 360 degrees car seat swivels at the touch of a button, making one-hand adjustments a doddle.
Spanish brand Jané takes safety so seriously that it even has its own crash test research centre, going even further than the required safety regulations, so it's no surprise that it's one of the manufacturers who encourage using the rear facing position for as long as possible.
This rotating car seat can be used in both positions until the age of four, and we think this model is roomy enough to use in the rear facing position for that long.
We also like how easy it is to install and rotate this swivel car seat.
Main Features
Price: £349.95
Suitable from birth to four years
Rear and forward facing positions suitable until four years
We love how you can get the perfect position for your child with this car seat.
As well being one of the smoothest swivel car seats and therefore easy to put in both the front and rear facing positions, its one-hand adjustable head position has seven different positions and there's also a seven-position recline for either front or rear facing.
