What to expect

Are you looking for an engaging storytime session that features diverse children's books? Join Tàta Storytime, a brilliant new channel on YouTube that features books written by authors and read by actors of African, Caribbean, and African-American heritage. Reading with your kids is one of the best ways to inspire, teach them and allow their imaginations to flourish from their earliest years.

Tàta Storytime was created by actor Okezie Morro, who realised there was a distinct lack of books with leading black characters and voices when he had his daughter. He wanted his little girl to see characters in books that mirrored her.

Aimed at kids aged 2 to 8, this is the ideal storytime session for entertaining and educating your kids. You will discover beautiful stories by authors around the world, read by fantastic actors including Lucian Msamati, Adjoa Andoh, Charles Venn, Martina Laird and Okezie himself. Tàta Storytime features children's books about diversity that celebrate differences and the magic of every person. You'll listen to the stories from some of the best children's books around, including Chicken in the Kitchen, Sing to the Moon, Sleep Well, Siba and Saba and Liar Liar Pants on Fire. Whether your children love flicking the pages of a picture book or enjoy being read to, you'll be sure to find a new favourite. It's the perfect session if you want to discover more diverse and inclusive stories for your family.

A children's book is a powerful tool in creating a more inclusive, tolerant generation, as kids can easily pick up information on important topics through reading, including diversity, racism and culture. Having your child see their own culture reflected in the books they read and the people who read them is invaluable, and reading about different cultures is beneficial to everyone, no matter their age.
