London Custom House sits on the north bank of the River Thames, located just east of London Bridge in the City of London. Dating back to the 14th century, it was formerly used as a collection point for customs duties and is still today used by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. The Custom House is also now the site of ExCeL London, a 100-acre exhibition and convention centre between the docks of Canary Wharf and London City Airport which has previously hosted the international Comic Con events.
Based in the East London Borough of Newham, the ExCeL centre is accessed by Custom House Station, a Docklands Light Railway station situated in Zone 3 which is also set to be a stop on the new Elizabeth line. Custom House for ExCeL DLR has allowed this part of the docklands to become the site of such renowned and global events and helps keep the area alive today.
