Manchester

Manchester is an incredibly vibrant city within Greater Manchester, in the North West of England. There is something for everyone in this buzzing city, from world-renowned restaurants to art exhibitions, unique shops and beautiful green spaces and waterways including the River Irwell, which runs through Manchester and Salford.

It’s the 6th largest city in the UK with an estimated population of 530,300. It has a lively student scene thanks to the presence of multiple universities, including the Russell Group's University of Manchester.

Highlights of the city include the Science and Industry Museum, Manchester Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and the National Football Museum. Family-friendly attractions include Sea Life Manchester, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and The Crystal Maze Live Experience. Manchester Opera and the Palace Theatre Manchester host some fantastic musicals and theatre productions too. Manchester has some great places to eat and is an exciting foodie destination. The Corn Exchange is home to a mix of new restaurants in the city.

Of course, Manchester is also home to some of the most famous football clubs in the world, including Manchester United and Man City.

Getting there is easy. Manchester airport is just 20 minutes on the train or car from Manchester Piccadilly station. From London, there is a direct train from Euston that takes just over two hours, or four hours by car. From Leeds, travel time is about an hour by both car and train.
