So, whether you’re after a relaxing escape with nature walks and campfires or days full of outdoor activities like kayaking and den building, we have options to suit everyone!
Hidden Valley Resort
Overlooking Avonmore river in Rathdrum, County Wicklow Ireland, you’ll find Hidden Valley Resort offering glamping mini lodges and a caravan and camping area. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities with kayaking, bumper boats, fishing, mini-golf, an outdoor adventure fun park and its very own aqua park!
Accommodation/facilities: Glamping mini lodges and a caravan and camping area with a separate toilet and shower block.
Attractions: On-site Splash Valley aqua park, operating at a reduced capacity - we suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment and completing a waiver online before arrival. Additional cost for the Aquapark is €20 for an adult day pass and €17 for a children’s pass. Fishing on-site, kid’s outdoor adventure park, bumper boats, paddle boats, water balls, rock wall, bungee trampolines, combat laser tag, cinema nights, adventure mini-golf and kayaking.
Restaurants: On-site The Lakehouse restaurant is open daily until the end of August. There are a variety of local, child-friendly restaurants in Rathdrum with some offering takeaways delivered to the campsite.
Cost: Loft House Glamping Lodge sleeping 6 (max 4 adults) €140 per night. Tent pitch prices vary- 2 adults 2 children it will cost €42 for one night stay.
COVID Measures: You’ll find hand sanitiser dispensers around the site and it’s advised that all families that are not from the same household adhere to social distancing as per government guidelines at all times.
Rivervalley Holiday Park
Located In County Wicklow, Ireland, Rivervalley Park is a brilliant choice for a family fun holiday in Ireland.
Accommodation/facilities: Family-friendly glamping accommodation options from Treehouses, Kukoo Hut, Microlodges, The Maxilodge, A Glampotel and touring and camping sites.
Attractions: On-site attractions include crazy golf, archery, airsoft shooting, pedal go-karts, remote-controlled cars and boats, tennis and badminton.
Restaurants/cafes: Mickey Finn’s Restaurant on-site will be open daily with a reduced capacity. The Wicklow Brewery next door will also be serving food and collection will be available when ordering online. Mickey Finn’s will also be open for alfresco dining with BBQs from Thursday - Sunday and The Take-Away will be serving some tasty posh chip options.
Cost: Tent sites with electric cost €45 for one night's stay. One night's stay in the Glampotel which sleeps 5 will cost €200 per night. One night in a Maxilodge sleeping two adults and three children is €95 per night.
COVID Measures: You’ll find hand sanitiser dispensers at the entrance and exits of all toilet and shower blocks. Please note that due to social distancing guidelines you may have to queue as it will be a slower process. For all on-site activities, equipment will be cleaned after use so that it is safe for the next customer.
Rockhill Holiday And Activity Park
Located in County Donegal in the scenic bay town of Kerrykeel, Rockhill Park makes for the perfect base for your Irish family holiday. There are lots to see and do with beaches, shops and restaurants all only a small drive away.
Accommodation/facilities: Take your pick of 1, 3 & 4 Bed Cabins or treat yourselves to a 4 Bed cabin with a hot tub! They also accommodate touring vans/motor homes and tents with on-site shower and toilet facilities.
Attractions: All touring visitors have free use of the Astroturf football pitch, tennis court, basketball court, adventure playground and entry to ‘Little Rockers indoor area for 0-4 year-olds. On-site there is also a small shop, pottery barn, gym and teddy building workshops, battery-operated go-karts, climbing wall, trampolines and much more. For an additional charge, you can do kayaking, laser tag and archery.
Restaurants/cafes: You’ll find a small, friendly cafe on-site and local shops and restaurants a short drive away.
Cost: Tent with no electric €25 per night, €35 per night with electric and €35 a night for touring vans.
COVID Measures: Rockhill will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure the site is kept clean and that social distancing is implemented.
Hodson Bay Hotel
Located in Athlone, Westmeath this four-star hotel offers a luxurious setting for a family get-away to Ireland.
Accommodation: A choice of classic, family, retreat, penthouse and elite rooms providing all of the amenities you need.
Attractions: The hotel has its very own fully supervised Kids Camp with a variety of fun activities and games to keep the kids entertained. Leisure centre with kids pool and beautiful scenic lakeside walks.
Cost: For a family room sleeping 2 adults and 2 children prices vary from £230 per night.
COVID Measures: Staff will wear face masks and be temperature checked at the beginning of each shift. There will be clear signage around the hotel to help maintain physical distancing and there will be enhanced cleaning throughout the hotel.
Share Discovery Village
Nestled on the shores of the Upper Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, Share Discovery Village is set over a 60-acre site.
Accommodation/facilities: Offering 10 sites for touring/motor campers with electric hookups and space for 30 tents. Self-catering chalets are available, each with its own en-suite and sleeps 8-12 people.
Attractions: You’ll find an abundance of family-friendly water and land activities on offer, such as a children’s outdoor play park, water park, paddleboarding, kayaking, climbing and archery. It is advisable to pre-book activities before arrival.
Restaurants/cafes: You’ll find a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants in the nearby towns of Derrylin and Lisnaskea which are approximately 3 miles away.
Cost: Caravan with electric hook up is £24 per night, non-electric pitched tent at £16 per night.
Center Parcs Longford Forest
Looking for holidays in Ireland for families? Center Parcs Longford Forest ticks all of the boxes. With 400 acres of forest to discover, miles of family-friendly cycle paths and an abundance of family fun activities, they really do have it all.
Accommodation/facilities: Self-catering lodges and apartments sleeping 2-8 guests, fully equipped with everything you’ll need.
Attractions: Adventure golf, archery, badminton, aerial adventure, aerial trekking, American pool, den building, kayak hire, electric boat hire, fencing, indoor climbing, laser combat, Segway and much more! Attractions will be running on a reduced capacity so make sure to pre-book these two weeks before you arrive.
Restaurants/cafes: You’ll find a fantastic range of on-site restaurants, offering filling meals or tasty snacks, from American to Indian cuisine, there is something for everyone. Many of the restaurants are offering takeaway options and delivery services.
Cost: Prices vary. For a 2 bedroom Woodland Lodge for 3 nights it would cost €639.
COVID Measures: Longford Forest is now cashless. Following government guidelines, the Swimming Paradise and Aqua Spa are currently closed. Daily housekeeping is no longer available but you will be provided with extra towels to last the duration of your stay.
Portsalon Luxury Camping
On the coast in the north of Donegal, you’ll find this hidden gem. Not your typical camping set-up, Portsalon offers up a luxurious alternative to camping.
Accommodation/facilities: On-site there are five luxurious yurts available to rent - A Yurt is a big round timber-framed, canvas-covered tent. Each has its own king-size bed and double sofa bed, bedside cabinets and chest of drawers. It’s not your typical tent, with carpeted floors and a lockable front door, outdoor seating, hammock, fire pit and bbq. On-site kitchen/lounge building well equipped with self-catering facilities along with separate male and female shower and bathroom facilities.
Attractions: A short walk to Portsalon village and Ballymastocker Bay, a 5k blue flag sandy beach perfect for some family beach fun and ample nature walks in the surrounding area.
Restaurants/cafes: Two restaurants in the village of Portsalon which offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and takeaway options. You’ll find a local shop in Portsalon which stocks a range of groceries and there is a larger supermarket in nearby Letterkenny.
Cost: A large yurt sleeping two adults and up to four children costs around €180 for two nights.
Situated beside Castleknock village only a 15-minute drive from Dublin City centre and a 13-minute drive to Dublin Zoo, this 4-Star hotel provides the perfect location and setting for a family holiday to Ireland.
Accommodation/facilities: Each hotel room includes a safe, flat-screen, TV, ironing board, tea/coffee making facilities, shower & bath and the family rooms also come with a mini-fridge.
Cost: Prices vary. Family room sleeping 2 adults and 2 children from £102.00 per night.
Attractions: The hotel has a range of amenities including an 18-hole golf course, sports screens, 18-metre pool, kid’s pool area and children’s playground. For the month of August, there is a range of supervised summer activities for children aged 4 to 12 including arts and crafts, supervised swim sessions, outdoor games and much more.
Restaurants/cafes: You’ll find options to suit everyone at Castleknock hotel with two restaurants and a hotel patisserie.
COVID Measures: The hotel wants to assure guests that they are taking extra measures to ensure that they are operating at the highest level of hygiene. Floor markings have been put in place to ensure social distancing and flow management and you’ll find sanitising stations at all key entry/exit points and elevator lobbies.
Diamond Coast Hotel
If you’re looking for the perfect base for a family escape to the West of Ireland then look no further. This child-friendly hotel in Enniscrone, County Sligo is the perfect location being only a 10-minute drive from Ballina, County Mayo, and less than an hour from Sligo, Westport and Knock.
Accommodation: This 4-star hotel prides itself on being a family-friendly hotel with large, recently refurbished rooms accommodating families of up to 8 people.
Attractions: Throughout your stay, you’ll have access to the Little Diamonds kids club, with structured playtime and activities including arts and crafts, board games, painting and much more. Clontarf Castle Hotel
On the search for child-friendly hotels in Ireland? The 4-star Clontarf Castle Hotel set in an 11th-century castle is the perfect base for a Dublin family getaway.
Accommodation/facilities: You’ll feel like royalty inside this beautiful castle hotel. With grand turrets, four-poster beds and views of the sea you’ll be truly spoilt here. If you’re in search of the perfect country escape then Fin Valley Cottages will provide you with just that! Nestled in Rural Tyron looking out over the Donegal hills, there are four child-friendly, luxury cottages to choose from.
