Famous for its seaside promenades, extravagant piers, and range of attractions, Blackpool is the ultimate spot for a family staycation and has so much to see and do.
Though it may be just over a four-hour drive from London, the popular town will have you feeling like you've flown away for an exciting holiday. With hotels, holiday parks, and camping spots beginning to open up again - now's the time to get planning your summer trip.
As the most famous seaside resort in the United Kingdom, there's no better place for a quintessentially British get-away. That's why we've rounded up nine of our favourite places that the whole family will love - so check them out, and get booking!
The Big Blue Hotel - Pleasure Beach
This family-friendly hotel sits right on the edge of the UK's favourite amusement park, is absolutely perfect for a fun-filled stay, and has great views of the park and coast. There are standard and deluxe family bedrooms available, designed with separate areas for the kids, and the adults (and infant cots are provided upon request). Each of the rooms also comes with a kid's area and entertainment area, with bunk beds, and even built-in TVs and PlayStations.
The hotel has its own restaurant, the Blues Bar and Brasserie, which caters for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee - and has a range of food that the whole family will love and even a fresh create-your-own-pizza section for the children!
The hotel reopened on 4 July and is open for booking with new safety and sanitation measures in place to protect guests and staff.
Haven Marton Mere Holiday Park - Mythop Road
Just a short distance from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the seaside, Blackpool Tower, and other attractions - the holiday park is in the ideal location for a family trip. On the other hand, if you don't want such an action-packed, touristy vacation, you can simply stay on-site and enjoy the nature reserve, various walks around the park, and fascinating wildlife. There's also a swimming pool, a golf course, a soft play area, and it's even dog friendly!
Pick from your choice of standard, deluxe, or prestige caravans (which are also accessible and pushchair friendly), and choose which area of the park you want to be situated in - quiet or near the action. You'll also be able to enjoy four different spots for food and drink and a small supermarket for all your basic needs.
The park reopened on 6 July, complying with COVID-19 restrictions to make for a safe and enjoyable trip for the family.
Piper's Height Caravan Park - Peel Road
This immaculate family-run caravan park has a huge 60 acres of land to explore - perfect for touring caravans and motor homes to pitch on. It's also dog friendly for those who don't want to leave anyone behind at home. Simple but ideal for a relaxed holiday, the site has a children's play area, large ponds with fish, plenty of local walks to go on, pubs nearby to eat and enjoy a drink in, and is in a great location that's not too far from Blackpool's coastline if you wish to visit all of the popular seaside attractions. With super friendly staff and great facilities, you won't want to miss out on this spot.
The park is reopened from 6 July and is currently accepting telephone bookings subject to availability.
The Village Hotel Blackpool - Park Drive
A great location for families close to all of the popular attractions including the Blackpool winter gardens, and just minutes from Blackpool Zoo - the Village Hotel is one of our favourite Blackpool hotels and is the perfect spot for a holiday. With an Italian restaurant for delicious meals, a pub, a golf course, squash and tennis courts, two swimming pools, and even a sauna - there's plenty to see and do around the site. With beautifully decorated and well-equipped rooms, you'll be able to feel like you're on a luxury vacation whilst still enjoying the local amenities. The resort offers free WiFi and parking, and plenty of green space for the kids to run around and explore whilst you sit back and relax. The Village Hotel has even got a Starbucks onsite for your daily caffeine fix, what more could you need?
The hotel reopened on 4 July, complying with guidelines and reassuring guests that cleaning procedures have been improved, and more safety precautions are in place to make for a secure stay.
Newton Hall Holiday Park - Staining Road
Set in the midst of the gorgeous countryside, yet only a few minutes drive to the coast, you really get the best mix of Blackpool. Whether you're after a relaxed or action-packed trip, the choice is yours. Choose from either an apartment or static holiday home to stay in, and enjoy the facilities of the park such as the arcade, the swimming pool, the fishing pond, and even a beauty salon. With live entertainment and a kids activity club, you don't have to worry about anyone getting bored, either. There are also several restaurants and pubs nearby too if you don't feel like cooking or travelling too far.
The Newton Hall Holiday Park reopened on 4 July with new cleaning procedures and precautions in place, ready to welcome guests back.
Hampton by Hilton Blackpool Hotel - New S Promenade
Within walking distance from Pleasure Beach, the Blackpool Tower, the Blackpool Winter Gardens, Central Pier, and Madame Tussauds, the Hampton really is the perfect spot for a luxury hotel stay close to all the attractions. The hotel has its own bar, lounge, free WiFi, and a free breakfast each day. You'll also be able to choose from a variety of well-decorated family rooms, and rooms with gorgeous sea views. The hotel is in close proximity to many attractions, or you want to travel further into the city, there's a tram stop just outside the hotel with easy access.
The Hampton by Hilton reopened on 4 July with the well being and safety of its customers and staff in mind.
Stanley Villa Farm Camping - Greenhalgh
Stanley Villa Farm is a unique experience that you don't want to miss out on. You and your family will get to stay in stunning pods, each with their own fire pit outside, or disposable barbecue. There are 24 pods to choose from, each spaced far enough apart to allow for social distancing and privacy and fitting up to two adults and two children. There's also a lakeside lodge on-site with a kitchen, free teas and coffees, three separate toilets and showers, and a room with games and tables to sit down at. There's lots of grass outside to enjoy, and even footballs, badminton, and other toys for the kids to play with. Though the site is self-catered, there are a few pubs nearby and it's only a 10-15 minute drive from all of Blackpool's most famous attractions such as the beach and the winter gardens.
The camping spot reopened on 4 July and is taking bookings - but hurry, the spot is popular and subject to availability!
Ream Hills Holiday Park - Weeton
The perfect spot nestled right in the countryside, Ream Hills Holiday Park is still close to the beach and other attractions. Choose from either a lodge, the farmhouse, an American-style RV, or do some glamping in a unique pod or dome. If you really want an out-of-this-world experience that the kids will love, you can even stay in your very own converted helicopter! There are plenty of walking and cycling routes nearby, along with a lake, lots of wildlife, a children's playground, and even a water playground and water sports. There's also a few family restaurants and bars nearby, and a cafe-bar on-site if you don't feel like cooking in the self-catering accommodation.
The Holiday Park reopened on 4 July, but you'd better get booking soon if you want a spot as it's filling up quickly.
Lyndene Hotel - 303-315 Promenade
Located right on the promenade, the Lyndene Hotel is the perfect spot to stay for an action-packed family holiday with top-notch facilities. Offering up triple rooms to fit families (with children aged over 5 years), you can pick from options with great sea views. The hotel also offers free WiFi, free parking, and plenty of live entertainment for guests. With three restaurants, there's plenty of options for food and drink - and even a space for alfresco dining. The super friendly staff make your stay just that little bit more special, and the bus stop right outside makes for easy transport if you want to explore more of the area such as the Blackpool pleasure beach, or Blackpool tower.
Having reopened on 4 July, the Lyndene Hotel is welcoming guests again and is committed to ensuring that the area is safe and clean for everyone.
